Being on the Show

What filming involves for the winner under the Official Rules: consent to be filmed by JRoc and crew during the 60-day deployment, a separate release, and who owns what.

AI Business Rescue is a contest and a documented series. The winner's 60-day rescue is filmed and published. This article explains Section 6 of the Official Rules.

The one ask

As a condition of receiving the prize, the winner must consent to being filmed by JRoc and crew during the 60-day deployment window. The footage is produced and published on YouTube and potentially other media channels.

That's the trade. Our FAQ puts it simply: you agree to be filmed during the 60-day rescue, and that's it.

The release form

The winner will receive a separate release form before filming starts. It covers the details of filming and how footage is used. Read it carefully, ask questions, and have your attorney review it if you'd like. Filming starts after the release is signed.

Who owns what

  • You keep your business. The rules say the winner retains ownership of their business intellectual property.
  • We keep the footage. The Sponsor retains rights to all footage and editorial content produced during filming.

What filming usually means day to day

We can't script every detail in advance, but owners should expect:

  • Interviews about the business, the problems, and how things are going
  • Footage of the team at work and of the systems being built and used
  • Before-and-after moments as things change

Your employees and customers

Filming a working business means other people may be on camera. The release process will address how people who appear on camera give their permission. Raise any concerns early, especially about customers, patients, children, or anything private.

Keeping sensitive information off camera

Tell us early about anything that must stay private, such as customer records, financial details, health information, or trade secrets. We'll plan around it with you.

I applied but didn't win. Will I be filmed?

The filming requirement in the Official Rules applies to the winner. Applying doesn't put you on camera. Our community events are a different matter: they may be recorded, as explained in the Event Recording and Publicity Policy.

The application asked if I'm open to TV. Does that matter?

It tells us how you feel about being on camera. Under the Official Rules, consenting to filming is a condition of receiving the prize, so only apply if you'd be willing to go through with it if you win.
