AI tools are only as safe as the way you use them. Here's what to think about before you paste your business into a chatbot, and how we handle your application data.
The basic risk
When you type or upload information into an AI tool, it goes to that company's servers. Depending on the tool and your settings, it may be stored, reviewed by staff, or used to improve the company's models. Free consumer tools and business plans often have very different rules.
Practical rules for your business
Know which plan you're on
Business and enterprise plans from major AI providers usually offer stronger data protections than free consumer versions, such as not training on your data by default. Read the data-use section of the terms, or ask the vendor in writing.
Keep sensitive data out unless the tool is approved for it
Don't paste these into general-purpose AI tools unless you've confirmed the tool is set up and contracted to handle them:
- Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or other government IDs
- Credit card or bank account numbers
- Health information about patients or clients
- Passwords and login details
- Anything a customer gave you in confidence
Healthcare, finance, and legal businesses have extra rules
If you handle health information, financial records, or legal matters, privacy laws and professional rules may apply. For example, healthcare providers in the US generally need a business associate agreement with vendors that handle patient information. Talk to a qualified professional before connecting AI tools to that data.
Give tools the least access they need
If a tool only needs to read your calendar, don't give it access to your whole email account. Review connected apps every few months and remove what you don't use.
Keep a human in the loop for anything sent to customers
AI can draft. A person should approve anything sensitive before it goes out, at least until you trust the system.
Tell your team the rules
Write a short policy: which tools are approved, what data can go in them, and who to ask when unsure. One page is enough.
How AI Business Rescue handles your application
Our Privacy Policy is the full explanation. The highlights:
- We use your application to run the contest: evaluating it, scoring it with AI (Anthropic's Claude), communicating with you, tracking referrals, and improving the experience.
- Your AI blueprint is generated from your application answers using the same kind of AI service.
- Application data is stored with access restricted to authorized administrators, and it's encrypted in transit and at rest.
- We share data only with the service providers that help us run the site and contest, when required by law, or, if you win, as part of the filmed deployment.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can ask to access, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@aiventureholdings.com.
